Teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God… — Titus 2:3-5

The purpose of WIC is to minister to the women in the church with the Word of God, to encourage the women to develop their spiritual gifts and equip them to serve in the church, and create a community of connectedness and compassion that comforts, confronts and challenges one another to glorify God with our lives. The WIC Ministry serves as an umbrella that covers and nurtures all the opportunities for growth and service within the church family for women:

Woman To Woman
Woman to Woman (WTW) exists to minister to the women of GRPC and to women in their area of influence by grounding them in the Word of God, for the purpose of :

  • Presenting the Gospel through witnessing to non-Christians and reinforcing the truth in the hearts of Christian women
  • Encouraging a relationship of deepening intimacy with Christ that is reflected in our lives and relationships in our homes, church, community and “oikos.”
  • Creating a community of connectedness and compassion that comforts, corrects, confronts and challenges one another in our effort to glorify God with our lives.

Our Scriptural basis for this purpose statement is Hebrews 4:12a, “For the Word of God is living and active.” WTW meets Wednesday mornings and evenings and is offered for two semesters a year. The typical fall semester runs from September to the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and spring semester runs from January to mid April. Nursery is provided for children under the age of five and there are numerous kids programs for older children on Wednesday evenings.

The typical format for WTW combines lecture and small groups. Women meet corporately for a lecture series given by women in the church and then break off for small groups. Both books of the Bible and Christian books have been used in the small groups. WTW is a great way to meet other women and develop relationships within such a large church as GRPC.

Mentoring
In the Mentoring Ministry, women come alongside other women to encourage them to grow in the Lord and live for His glory. This ministry consists of three areas: connecting, discipleship, and accountability. Connecting is for women in need of a friend or a spiritual mother, someone to come alongside of them for the purpose of encouragement, friendship, and role modeling. Discipleship is for women who desire to learn more about the truths of the Christian faith and how to apply them to every day life. Accountability is for women in need of support in living their lives under the authority of God's word. How do you become a part of this ministry? By completing a confidential questionnaire that provides information to help identify your needs and match you with an appropriate mentor.

Missions
Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples. -- Psalm 96. God is working among the nations and all peoples. Just take a few minutes to visit the racks located outside the library and elevator on the second floor. These racks hold some precious information about the missionaries that GRPC supports. Grab the most recent letters and prayer cards, then start praying for these workers of the Lord.

  • Place prayer cards in a flip photo frame. Pray for a new missionary at mealtime.
  • For younger children (or yourself) make a photo placemat with the prayer cards. They too can begin praying and feel connected.
  • Locate the countries on a map so you know exactly where our missionaries work and live.

Hospitality
Hospitality is such a vital and ever growing part of the WIC ministry at GRPC. We work together with Special Events and are always looking for ways to serve the body. Many exciting and new changes have taken place with the recent organizational plans and we are always working to take things to the next level. This ministry exists to serve in both large and small ways and to constantly draw in a flow of both new and old people to work together. So many people have been blessed from this ministry. Some have established new friendships and others have just been overwhelmed with the opportunity to serve their church and the Lord in this way. If this is an area in which you feel you can use your gifts, please feel free to contact us. We are always looking for people trying to find their niche!
