» satellite churches

What would the Apostle Paul do with modern technology to preach the gospel? How would he use radio, television and the internet to plant churches and reach the world for Christ?

A satellite church is a congregation that meets remotely but is still considered part of the local church here at GRPC. Via the internet, we broadcast our worship services live to various "campuses." When they plug in to join us, they are literally worshipping and hearing the same sermon simultaneously with the main campus in Glasgow. It gives new meaning to the phrase "one body - many locations," giving the church the opportunity to outreach and minister specifically to local communities where the satellite church meets.

Each location has a "Campus Pastor" assigned who is responsible for building and practicing body life during the week. He is the true "pastor" of the satellite church, providing shepherding, training, equipping and discipleship, in addition to preaching when the Senior Pastor is occasionally away on Sunday morning.

This concept is tailor-made for church planting. Essentially, a small congregation gets the benefit of a large staff and an experienced pastor at their disposal during a crucial time of their "birth" when they would not otherwise be able to afford it. Through training and support, the Campus Pastor and satellite church becomes more and more self-sufficient. Developing leadership and training their own session is a priority, as well as a worship team and eventually, their own staff. At the appropriate time, the "umbilical cord" is cut and the satellite church becomes its own local congregation where it can continue to be a redemptive presence in the surrounding community.

Since 2003, GRPC has established the following satellite churches:

GRPC - Eastern Shore: Centreville, MD
Became a particular church in 2006.

GRPC - Southern Kent: Dover, DE
Campus Pastor: Steve Jeantet (Interim)
